Good turnout, fun group, but none of that's important. Slits and Toast were climbing all over me in the twisties when I rounded a turn and hit a gelatinous mass of something on the road. Sticky Toyo's grabbed a chunk and deposited same on Ron's windshield.

Sent to FBI for analysis, but let me tell you it's good to be in the lead..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon8.gif)

Eegad! I thought you were going to try to encourage more people to show up to these drives, not scare them away. Even SLITS had to block his view of it with his cap.

And yes, you will be placed at the back of the pack next time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Well, even though I came late I had a blast. Andrew and I went on the poorly attended late run. We had a nice run, with only a couple traffic slowdowns. Andrew's Ford Probe is very fast in those twisties, easily keeping up with a 914, and a lot faster than mine (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I spoted this group of Mini's headed up into Mulholland Highway. We also pased by a group of GTIs/Sciroccos/etc. and a bunch of other porsches, and half the world's motorcycles of course.

-Tony

Edit: that's Andrew (phantom914)'s Probe in the foreground.

Sadly, I think Lagunero missed out on the breakfast at Super Tommy's. He drove all the way up from Orange County (i believe) and only got to shoot the shit with us for about 10 minutes!

Here's a picture from the viewpoint above the twisties.

Oh, and wanna start a flame @ pelican? I posted this on the 911bbs and have and some replies...

Nice of all of you to come out. There were some pretty long drives to get there, but it was fun. Don't have any action pic's but hopefully Max will post.

Apologies to all you 'taildraggers', especially the 930's from the 914 contingent. We'll slow down next time so you can keep up.

Chicken (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif)

The run is done,
It was fast and fun,
The taildraggers were bitchin,
The teeners were pitchin.

Three turbos I spied,
Fighting the twisties just made them cry,
But on the straights, their huevos grew large,
And in a group, they led the charge.

A solitary teener with a big 2.0,
Decided he could not just let them go,
And with slimy guts and bicycle butts in his face,
He stomped on it and gave chase.

Little Suzie was just puttering on,
As the train of porcupines flew toward the rising sun,
The wastegates they popped,
Woke Howard up, he realized he was at a dead stop.

A Loucs 7, a replica of beauty you see,
Was a treat to behold with it's 1500 cc,
With a windscreen so small, maybe a flaw,
At speed the driver was swallowing bugs down his craw.

A Viper and some more elebens made the race,
Some were fast and some ran a snails pace,
But it can be said if this twisty road tour for 2005 is on the plate,
Fun will be had by all, cause it was just GREAT.

Seriously, we did gain a bit of respect today. I set the pace pretty slow, and never exceeded 4500prm. 911 guys were pushing to keep up. But it's not just the 914's, it's the club attitude. We drive; They polish. Andrew was beating them up in his Probe (nice driving, little guy). I'm ready to go next week.

And not only does he write great poetry, but Slits is FAST. Then after the run, he came up to my place, listened to the V8, and changed the dwell. Runs a whole lot better, What a Guy!

It's just his personal hygene.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

Lagunero, what happened????

I'm sure SLITS wins on distance traveled. Between getting there, driving two runs and stopping by work, I put 265 miles on the odometer yesterday. When can we do it again? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Lagunero,

Too bad we all got split up again. Next time we need to get eachother's cell numbers. Or let someonre other than Howard give directions. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Hey! nice meeting you TonyakaVW , Steve (beautiful GT2), Ron and good to see everyone else! My fault for getting lost (Phantom914 - I shouldn't have made fun of Howard's gift for giving directions!) I hadn't but finished straping in my son when everyone was gone. I know Howard said next 5 exits westbound but at exit # 5 and no sign of Hampshire exit in sight I had no choice but to turn back since I only had a OC county map in the wife's car and her reminding me that she "saw" everyone take the "other" ramp (east). Oh well, like I told my wife, it was mostly to show support to Howard and the club's breakfast get togethers. 190 miles of SoCal freeways are a drag when you get lost.

Not to defend your wife or anything (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) , but just about everybody did take the eastbound ramp. Then we all got off and turned around at the next offramp. And remember, when Howard says "about" 5 offramps, go at least a couple more to make sure. Seemed like it took forever to get to Hampshire. I'd like to see how it will be at the WCC with several dozen cars at once. We'll make the Keystone Cops look organized I bet. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Darn! We were in front of you guys! Thanks Andrew, she'll be happy to know she isn't crazy, like I kinda mentioned to her cuz Howard said WEST and us guys know our directions (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) So the same happened again, the classic case of follow the leader. Oh yea, Las Virgenes to Hampshire is about 14 mi. (mapquest). If time allows I'll try to get us lost before the GAF (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
'member leaving Laguna Seca at the WCC04? I followed Slits and Toast to the gas station (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Yup, mea culpa. It's the 8th ramp west of Las Virgenes. Really sorry about this, Alberto. Next time will be a little smoother. Andrew, you have the engineering degree, so you take over as team leader (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
