About 30 yrs ago a local was proud to let the 914 guys he found a GT front hood,
The story he goes he mounted to the hinges and went to close it and.................
CrAcK.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) ......Turns out One must remove the hood springs.

I had heard the story but never saw the proof...........Fast forward 2010..
A local 914 Guy Bob C. passed away. I heard threw the grapevine , his brother was selling it all. Well Rich and I finished of the pile . A week later Ralph Meaney was telling me about the GT hood he had, another year goes by , I finally see it, oh ya its broke,,,WTF, where did you get it Ralph ? ,He told me he got it from Bob's Brother.
Well last week I help Ralph through some engine issues and I told I would take the hood.
Done deal , Here is the legend of the broken GT hood.............Its a repo , I know its at least 30 yrs old.

Ralph used to service my 911T several years ago. Great guy with unbelievable knowledge and quite the racing history - used to see pics of his 914s in his office. A true 914 legend.

Looks so purty (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif)

So do you think it can be fixed or is it now just a piece of history?

I used to stockpile balsa when I was a kid. Built model planes like crazy. I should have kept the stuff. That' s the main wood correct? What is similar to our metal hoods, ie - can we fabricate these ourselves?
