Moving back home to Bham (roll tide!). Anyone local teeners know of a good mechanic? I hear Eurasian Auto is a reputable shop, but what about 914s? Thanks in advance.

Eurasian is about the best with 914s but Bill Mitchell is retiring and is mainly rebuilding very early motorcycles at Barber's. He is selling the shop and there are a couple of young guys there that are good mechanically with Porsches. I have found my best information locally comes from JimmyG on 914World.com and who has a couple of 914-6 cars. He has had 914s for many years and is very knowledgeable.

There are a few of us in Birmingham. What part of B'ham are you moving to?

Good luck wit the move. Give me a PM when you get settled.

Eurasian is good for normal type 4 maintenance. I'm in Hoover (on the Homewood side) and JimmyG is in Vestavia which is very close as well. By the way, I have a house for sale just off of Alford Ave.

Good deal...i'll check them out. Looks like they are downtown, which should also be convenient. On a side note, can't wait to get back out to barber. Would love, some day, to attend the driving school.

Re: the house, we are initially going to look closer in. We like the pre war homes in forest park and hollywood/edgewood. Also like the very short commute to work downtown. Despending upon what we see (or don't see) this weekend, we might look a little further out in vestavia or hoover. Are you in bluff park? Have always liked that area.
