I'm in the process of installing my new poly-bronz bushings and the directions say that if the fit is too loose to use urethane adhesive caulk. While at the local hardware store I could only find polyurethane caulk. will this work?
Thanks |

Right brand ! wrong product ......use Loctite Retaining compound...dont recall the # ...but then again how loose is loose..im talk n .005 or less to make the compound work proper..there are some 2 part epoxy`s that will work for sloppy fits....JMO

That is all that Home Depot had available. I will check with Lowes. The directions called for 50 -100 lbs of force. On one of the bushings I can press it together by hand. Maybee I'm making this more complicated than necessary but I only want to do this once.
Thanks David |

If these are what I think they are, they are pretty pricey bronze bushings offered from a particular specialist as a set. I can see how there might be a fit issue with parts at your end since they have no control over that. But the machined bushings and retainers are made to their specs and should fit each other perfectly without any added goo. Maybe I have this wrong and the fit is between the existing 914 clamps and the parts? |

I was wondering why if they wanted an interference fit they didn't machine an interference fit. I am guessing the answer is that at least some of the components are off the shelf, and they vary in dimensions. They just look too nice for that. |

I found a PL Premium Polyurethane Construction Adhesive at
Ace Hardware. On the bottom of the tube is stamped with the numbers (part #?) 3L9146HR11. Must be the one! I've forgotten if my fit was loose or shaky, but it wasn't a pressfit. |

According to Chuck Moreland of Elephant Racing the Home Depot product is fine. The fit between the red poly and the control arm mounts needs to be tight with no movement. All of the movement is between the bronze fitting (inside the poly) and the race that has been epoxied to the control arm.
Hope that helps David |
