ok. i did something real stupid. i just sealed up my short block, and look over at my work top, and see my windage tray sitting there. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) do i need to take it apart and install it? this is going into a dry sump full flow 914/4 street car that will see time attack road courses. ARGH!

911 engines don't have a windage tray.
My first reaction is that you probably don't need it on a dry-sump /4, but to be fair, I have no experience with dry-sump Type IV engines. |

Primarily for wet sump engines to keep oil from being picked up by the spinning crank creating parasitic drag (loss of HP).
On the race cars, we ran a windage tray along with a crank scraper. |

Don't bother. Especially on a dry sump, where there is no oil in the sump.
