Hi Randal,
I bought mine at Jerry Woods (Smart Racing). Besides really waking the engine up, they are very light ~9lbs for the 2 of them that I am running. I believe you would only need 1 for a smaller 4 cyl unless you go big.... Bill P. |

There are cars running the F9 that don't get busted, so hence the search. Of course if there is something better/lighter/cheaper (B10) out there tell me about it. BTW I liked the flowmaster, but the short racing version is louder that PCA will allow. I don't know about the other flowmasters, but maybe I'll call them again. Maybe the folks down in Fresno won't car about noise???? |

The numbers don't tell much about how loud it will be on the street. Typically having just the Phase 9 is too loud for a daily driver, but fine for the occasional joyrider. When I get my new engine I'm going to use Chris's header and muffler set up as Jake is pretty clear on how well it works.
In the mean time spending $325+ on a P9 doesn't make a lot of sense to me, given that all I want is maximum power and a quiet muffler that won't draw GGR complaints. I bought a series 50 Flowmaster today that I'll be installing before this weekend. They say that there is no power loss, and Demick, who is a good mechanical engineer, uses a 50 (or maybe a 60) so I'll jump on that bandwagon as well. The series 50 has three internal chambers that are meant to reduce noise as opposed to the single chamber I had previously. Hard to believe that 3 chambers wouldn't reduce power in some way, but that is what they say. Guess I'll know on Saturday. |

The 50 series Flowmaster is now installed. I'll post a picture tomorrow.
I could tell when I started the car that I had regained power, especially over my old street muffler that I'd been forced to use to control sound. The Flowmaster technical people say their product actually increases power over a straight pipe, and while originally skeptical, I'm turning into a believer. |

Let's go dyno test the unit next week.
I know what it was before with an open Supertrapp so we can compare. We could also run a dyno test on the shorter (loud) unit. That would give us four results: A. 2.0 with Supertrapp with 8 disks B 2.0 with Supertrapp totally open C 2.0 with 10" Flowmaster D 2.0 with Series 50 Flowmaster Where is the best/most cost effective place to go? |

I wanted to put on a 50 series, but it was too long to fit with my collector. The delta flow 40 series is mellower than the regular 40 series. The 50 series is one step mellower than what I have.
