Well its time to upgrade the shocks on my car. It is primarily used for AX with a trackday thrown in. Currently the car has T struts, 21mm torsion bars, 19mm sway bar, and monoball strut mounts and 180 pound springs in the back. All the bushings have been replaced with delrin. I would like to lower the car a little bit more but am limited with the current T struts. I was intending to go with Koni or Bilstein inserts and shocks with a coil over kit on the rear but then I happened across these which are still in the budget but barely.
http://www.tarett.com/items/914-products/9...strt-detail.htm http://www.tarett.com/items/914-products/9...rshk-detail.htm I do have a set of calipers that I should be able to use since mine currently have the 3" spacing. Will the T hubs work on the RSR spindles? Any thoughts on this? Should I just keep it simple and go with the Konis? |

Are those adjustable? I would be looking for something adjustable to play with.

Are those adjustable? I would be looking for something adjustable to play with. No they're not but I've heard the konis are not consistent. Next step above that is way over my budget. Save some trial and error - and $ and find out what the top guys are using. That's kinda why I'm asking here. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

I'm partial to Bilsteins. They can easily be revalved should you ever want to. Ran the same set for years with Jack French valving (Bilstein West) at AX and loved em'.

Normal HDs. The difference between all is the valving.

Custom valved Bilstein HD fronts.
Double adjustable, custom valved rear shocks. Bilstein, Ohlins, etc. pick your price point. Its worth spending some $$ on shock dyno testing if you're serious about winning. |

Thanks guys. Ordered some Bilstein HDs and will order the coil over kit once Tarett opens. We have a local company that does shock tuning. I'll be talking to them.

I have custom-revalved Bilsteins on both ends as well.

Okay so I got the Bilsteins and the coil over kit in the mail. I haven't installed it yet but looking at it it appears that the springs won't be tensioned with the wheels off the ground. Should I also order a set of helper springs or do you guys just zip tie the springs to the perch?

I do nothing. They settle down onto the perch just fine...

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/bs.gif) I tried the helper springs but per my mechanic they can hang-up and are just unnecessary. Went back to zip ties for the top hats as before. |

I used about 6 turns of safety wire to hold the springs up. The zip ties (large) broke.

Scary but okay. I may go with JPs suggestion and see how it works.

Got all my new goodies put on. Went with the Bilstein HDs, Rebel Racing rear coil over kit with 250lb springs, turbo tie rods with RSR bump steer kit, a Rennshifter, and a Momo Prototipo steering wheel. Balanced and aligned it this morning. Have an AX next Sunday and another the following Saturday. I can't wait. I think it will probably be time to ditch the Weltmeister 19mm swaybar and go with something more substantial and better quality. Here's the corner balance, with me in the car.
