Why would the light flash if the voltmeter is at 13volts. every thing seems to be working and the battery is not losing juice. Where should I look?

No, I am not sure, but I will be by tonite.
Thanks for the help. couldn't get much simplier. I have had this 914 (1973 2.0l ) for 3 years and just got it on the road this weekend. I thought i had it on the road 2 weeks ago, but a back fire caused a small fire that scare the Obama out of me. Thanks for the help. markw |

The alternator lamp works like this.
12 volts from the fuse panel connects to the lamp. The field wire from the alternator/regulator provides a ground when the charging system fails or when the engine is off. This lights up the lamp. When the system is charging, the field wire becomes positive voltage. 2 positive connections to the lamp and the light goes out. If it is flashing, either you have a loose connection or a bad charging system. I would suspect the lamp is connected to the brake circuit or wired wrong. |
