Just a thought, and an opportunity for a funny picture. Has anyone ever tried to haul a Double bass in a 914?
Not that I need to take the bass anywhere this weekend but I think I'll see if it fits anyhow. Place your bets! |

Heck I thought from the Thread Title you were talking about Douche Bags and I was going to say that there have been a couple Douche Bag 914 Owners and apparently they fit into their cars.

I thought you were going to put an Aston Martin DB series engine in a 914. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)
I don't see why someone couldn't get it in/on the car someway. I have a picture of my mom in her old Beetle with her upright bass in it back in college somewhere. |

I have a picture around somewhere of an eight-foot step-ladder in my 914.
We neglected to take pictures, but my wife and I have also hauled a ~7-foot tree in the 914. --DD |

Simple. Get a second roof. Paint musical notes all over it. Cut a hole over the passenger seat. Stand the bass upright in the passenger seat.

Well, considering we are talking about Ripper, I thought he meant a dead body... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Simple. Get a second roof. Paint musical notes all over it. Cut a hole over the passenger seat. Stand the bass upright in the passenger seat. I guess you'd have to put the top on the bass first, then put it in the car and latch it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) |

Well, considering we are talking about Ripper, I thought he meant a dead body... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Me too, and was thinking 'DUH'--why do you think the spare is able to be mounted in the back! It's so the dead hookers can be stashed in the front truck nice a neat...make sure you have a full tank of gas first though, you don't want those uncomfortable looks at the gas station. If the body is dead, just cut it up first. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I've hauled 8-10' trees, large sound mixing boards, construction lumber and a bunch (4) skinny girls, but never a double bass. (nor any dead hookers).
As long as you can accept that the top needs to come off, you have unlimited space for anything not too wide. As long as the heater is working, it can be livable (with a hat on) Both trunks are relatively nicely sealed so the smell shouldn't be too bad from the dead body, but remember that rigormortis sets within 24hrs, so having them folded in the front trunk MAY not be the best move. Single 12" 60 watt combo amplifier and small gear bag in front trunk (spare tire out), 12 channel powered mixer, five mic stands in rear trunk, guitar and large gig bag in the passenger area, circa 1983. Small drum kit, also sans spare tire. same time frame. Sorry never a double bass.

It will look like Wilt in the car, but as long as it isn't raining it will fit.

It pretty much fits, but I dont see a good way to put the seatbelt around it. Might need someone to sit on the rollbar and play it going down the road. |

Hell!! With the latest thread about fishing in the sandbox I thought it was another fishing question? I was trying to figure out where you could catch a Double Bass? Was it salt or fresh water? I have transported a 175 pound Great Dane if that big bastard fit in a 914 almost anything will. Yes the top was removed. I think I still have welts from its tail
