My new 914 has gaps between the heat exchanger and the exhaust, which isn't a stock one. Is it supposed to be welded to make a tight fit?

There is a gasket, and you may want to use two for each side.

get the correct ones for your application. 2.0 differ slightly from 1.7/1.8 versions and late he are completely different. if you're unsure which to buy post a picture of the he currently on your car.
