It's been on my 914 since I bought it. Googling the numbers doesn't really give a solid model number. Curious if it's the standard SR17X or some other Bosch brand starter?

By the looks and numbers you provide it is Bosch starter for a 914 and VW. The SR17X designation is a Bosch rebuilt number.

It is, indeed. Looks like an aftermarket rebuilt unit. Those aren't Bosch stickers plastered all over it.
