Just got my new bilstien shocks from Eric Shea and have never installed new shocks, what's the right way to install these new shocks? They come with one spring holder and two small flat washers and a nut.Isn't there a top cap that holds the spring on the shock,what's the best spot on the shock for the movable clip? What's the best spring rate 73 3.2 six 285 person . Thanks John (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif)

John, you have to use the hardware off the old shock. Please read up on how to remove the rear springs from the shocks. You can have a speeding bullet nut when it comes off. IT WILL PUT A HOLE IN THE WALL!
Start where the clip is now. I believe it is on the 3rd grove. Are you installing new springs ? 100# stock -6 springs or heavier? Heavier springs are shorter in most cases and will require some adjustment. |

Most auto parts stores rent for free spring compressors.
You have about 2" of spring compression and have to account for that when using the spring compressors so you can relieve the compression after the top hardware is removed. Do not try $10 Harbor freight compressors. They can slip off. |
