had these for a while. no part # to be seen. 3" caliper spacing. any clues as to their application? was told from a 911. thanks.

these too. 3 1/2' bolt spacing, '280' cast into the caliper.

The struts look a lot like 911T struts, same as 914/6, good for a 5 bolt conversion using the alfa calipers.
There should be a 914 xxx xxx part number even if off a 911, should be right above the brake line tab. |

that helped mark, found some #s. one has V 38 976 and the other V could be a 0 or an incomplete 8 and 975. make any sense?

Struts are early pinch bolt style 911 struts. They should be 911.351.XXX.XX
The calipers are standard A-Calipers. I need to see the back to get you close on age but, heres some info: 7mm spacers = 74-83 911 and 911SC 11mm spacers = 84-89 Carrera 280 is just a casting number. See the small lines heading out from the circle? Those are cracks beginning to form in the original casting. From looking at casting numbers on limited production cars, we're guessing 500 units out of each casting. The back side has a widows peak with the fluid inlet at the bottom. If you see 3 potential fluid inlet ports (one left and one right of the peak but, only the bottom is drilled) it's an early A-Caliper from 74-77/78ish. If the sides are smooth leading up to the fluid inlet, it's a later SC or Carrera casting. Again, the spacers between the caliper 1/2's will tell you what they came off (for the most part). E. |

very good. the spacer measurement is 7mm. here's another picture. still can't find any 911 number on the strut housings. all of the parts came to me in a deal.

Early multi-colored one. Gold spray paint on the front and silver on the back (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Good example of an early A-Caliper. From that pic you can see the three potential fluid inlet taps for the brake line. Porsche only used the bottom one (with... well... the BRAKE line sticking out of it). But, seeing as how these are sedan calipers, BMW may have had the left one tapped and Mercedes may have had the right one tapped etc. |
