What do you need to do to use 944 or 911 flag mirrors? Just drill new holes?

The 944 mirors would need a different base. From a quick glance at my mates 944 i don't see it as an easy bolt on.
You could try this idea. I made some lexan windows, then drilled mounting holes & popped the carbon jobbies on. You can get the mirrors from SPA, or a bunch of ebay sellers. Attached image(s) |

Nice dog, Trev! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)
Ofcourse the 944 wont work, they are like 1/3 the price of the 911 and the only difference is the base (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif) Damnit (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif) |

Why would a 944 base not work?
Trev, I was just thinking about those mirrors you have. Could you post a picture of the whole car? I have flared fenders so I'm worried that they might not look good on my car. Also, seeing the price on ebay of those I'm guessing that they are fake carbon fiber, is that true? |

Here is how to adapt Any mirror base to fit any car:
1. Place some blue masking tape on the mounting area. 2. Have a helper or make a jig that holds the mirror in place securely. 3. Rough up the bottom and lower sides of the base of the mirror flag. 4. Mix some bondo or dura glass and apply to the base of the mirror and make a "squash" by placing the mirror in the appropriate spot with your helper or jig. 5. Before the filler fully kicks, pull the mirror off the car and cut any excees with an exacto knife. Finish as nessecary. 6. Sometimes you can reuse the original gasket, sometimes you have to make one. I used 85 escortpower mirrors. $5 each! I hope that helps Mark Attached image(s) |

I was just looking at the escort mirrors. Nice. Thanks for the tips. How about a close up of your mounting?
I have a set of RX7 mirros with switch that I was gonna use, but I think that I am starting to like the flag look better now. |

They look similar, but the contours are slightly different at the base.

935 mirrors? How about these "cones" They are there, but they SUCK to see anything out of. That's why there is a "WINK" mirror in the car. That thing ROCKS! Attached image(s) |

Shaped like that, but larger, and made not to mount into the corner, but along the front of the 'vent' window, mounts about 2/3 the way up..... eye level.

When fitting your 928-944 flag mirrors on your 914; 911 bases, mounting screws, gaskets for bases, and reinforcement plates for doors (fits inside door skin and helps support mirror) are the parts you need for conversion. All the flag mirror portions of the 928-944 mirrors are the same as 911, its just the bases that are different and contoured to fit the 914.

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/agree.gif) with mack914. I't real important to remember the reinforcement plates (porsche parts...not expensive...like 7-9 bucks) that go inside the doors. It gives strength so you don't bend up the door skins.
