So I had tried to search for the installation of a 911 dash in a 914 (either a Getty dash or a 911 upper dash) so I searched for "+911+dash" but the search returned a large number of seemingly unrelated posts so then I found a pic that I had saved from one of the threads so my question then is:

Can you search by post number, for instance "post-645-1301437653"?

Thanks

The Google Chrome browser has a search by image option that might work to find the origin of the image.

Try also +getty +dash in the search box and see if that turns up the right thread.

I forgot to mention https://www.tineye.com/ which is another image search option.

3 letter words and numbers aren't indexed so they won't be used in your search.
Also, did you actually use the quotes "" in your search? For keywords searches, you should omit the quotes.

+getty +dash

gave me a good number of results:

As far as the image name goes, it only contains the user id and unix timestamp but that might be enough to track down the thread in question.

post-645-1301437653

645 is the user id for Rockaria
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=645

1301437653 is the unix timestamp for Tue, 29 Mar 2011 22:27:33 GMT

So, the image was uploaded by Rockaria on March 29th 2011, which should help you narrow down the thread it was uploaded to by looking through his posts from that day.

That is helpful information!

FWIW---One tip and another search option I use for searching sites is to google query the site itself. That way I get a Google list of my results. And then I'll tab over to 'images' within Google.

Precede your query with site:

So the query would look like the following:

site:914world.com 911 dash

This is particularly effective on other sites where the search function w/in is not robust or existent.
