(IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) UPDATE:
>> For those who attended, feel free to post your pix on here, cuz due to volunteer judging (really just showing one of the Boys Republic residents how to judge & mentoring them to do it) - I didn't get a chance to take pix until after 2 pm & many interesting cars & 914s had left by then.

FYI - this multi-marque classics & exotics car, truck, motorcycle & RV charity show is on this Saturday out in Chino, & all proceeds go to the Boys Home, which was where McQueen got "help" in his youth.

There is usually a good turn out of 914s & Porsches - although not huge, but there are several 100 of all types & makes spread all around & a fun gearhead & family fun event!

Cheers! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

If they're selling copies of the book "McQueen's Machines" pick it up. Fun read...

Local Porsche crowd does show up in all varieties of awesomeness !
Canepa Motorsports usually brings the Gulf 917 and a Rothmans 962.

So I was only able to get a few pix of cars later in the event day, due to my time volunteering at this event.

Yes Virginia - (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) - there was a 918 there courtesy of McKenna Porsche (one of the event sponsors) & the owner to which it was sold - in matte black on black....

... and a screaming yellow Electric conversion 914 .... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

This guy also had a VW Splitty Doka converted to electric there which won in the VW Group, & since my kid from Boys' Republic who did the judging liked the electric motor so much, he gave it a 20 out of 10 for engine!

Unfortunately I didn't get pix of that sweet resto-mod, since I was hurrying to catch the 914s left before they were all gone!. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I think that there were 8-10 914s there on display at the peak!

Unfortunately Eddie left with his orange/black original 914-6 before I could get around to do these pix. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I also personally loved this C1 Vette in White with Silver Coves! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

At the peak there was this football/track stadium, the baseball field & some smaller grassy areas loaded with all sorts of cool cars! They said 250-300+ vehicles of all types, including motorcycles, cars, light trucks & heavy haulers, vintage 1950's & `60's RVs & Travel Trailers, & even a 1 man submarine!

... And I had our restored `88 Westy on display out on the baseball field by the vintage trailers - mainly to keep it off the free dirt lot parking where it got covered by a thick layer of dust last year! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Since the 10th grader Jeff whom I was mentoring as judge & I had the 911 & VW Groups - I couldn't really get points for it anyway, but I showed him all the camping features - which he thought was really cool. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

.

This resto project is part of what's kept me off of my 914's resto since 2012 - except for getting parts along the way when they come up - among the other car, trailer, house/garage/yard projects, work & some biz BS, family matters to deal with, etc., etc. ..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

But at least it should be appraised or GoWesty OVR in the $50-70,000 range now! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

... Last one of our Westy. Unfortunately my wife couldn't come up with me & do her usual show & tell for "Her Happy Van" - which we've owned since new, driven 217,000 miles all over the US & BC Canada, taught both kids to drive in it (it's the only automatic in the stable) & was her DD for all these years - ergo Auto & not a Synchro!

Attached Image

.

OK, that's all I have - so the rest of you who went go ahead & post your pix on here too, so others can see what all was there.

In addition to Eddie's orange original 6, I know I saw a black one, a silver 73-74 2.0 & a Marathon Blue one & a few others. The were over 100 911s there too - ergo our long time judging.

McKenna had also brought 1 of every current Porsche offered, but not of each sub- model. Plus tons of other racers, hot rods, classics, brass era, etc., etc., etc.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) So get busy & add yer pix! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/type.gif)

Cheers! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Try googling for the owner on the placard sign & electric conversion & 914 & VW cuz he has a biz doing them, but I don't recall the name of it. He probably has a website with that info.

I found the group's biz card on the EV 914 & Doka, if you're interested in more info....

wwwZelectricMotors.com

They probably have the 914EV's weight & specs on their website.

Y'all come out to the Orange County PCA car show & Concours in Dana Point tomorrow!

This 918 has an very very expensive color change.
Any color change is 10% of the total cost of the car!

Thanks for the photos Tom. That looks like a really great event. I like the split window vans. Amazing how valuable they are now. When I was in college you could find them for a few hundred bucks, even there in the Bay Area where I lived at the time. As for the 918, I am not a big fan of that paint and to pay even more for it seems silly. I have noticed a lot of motorcycles with that flat paint these days too, both cruisers and sport bikes. I guess I am just getting old, but I like shiny paint with a good wax.

I agree on the 918 paint - not my personal taste.

I & others posted some of the nice silve 918 Weissach that came to the Temecula Zone 8 Concours, & I then there's the gloss black one at Sunday's OC Concours - if you go to those topics in the Garage forum.

Let's face it 0396 - if they're paying $875,000 to start - it may be more of a "mine is more (expensive/whatever) than yours!!" game with that rarefied ultra-rich crowd! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Cheers! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

A different 914EV entered our OC Concours on Sunday & one it's class for Specials (modified) Porsches - a very clean job too!

Jim Hoyland posted some nice pix on that topic thread.

Cheers Dave! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
