I just got a tangerine side shift linkage and figured, as my side shift console is leaking pretty bad, that I'd pull it to do the needed mods for the linkage and put in new seals at the same time [I'll be doing the speedo drive while the oil's out too.]

I have the seal for the selector rod, but don't have the o ring that goes between the console and the tranny. Is it possible to buy this separately? All I can find is the whole pack of 901 seals for $89.

If not, I'm wondering if I can't just buy the same sized O-ring off ebay or amazon. I mean, an o-ring is an o-ring is an o-ring, right? Or not right?

I agree. Measure the diameter of the "O" ring and ID & OD and search on McMaster Carr and see what your options are

I am confident that if you asked Dr Evil, he would have a loose one he would part with.

Thanks Stu, I'll give him a try. I mean, techinically, his DVD is partly to blame for me even doing this, so... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Pelican has them too. Though you might think of other stuff you want to order at the same time to save on shipping.

Really? Thanks. Can't believe I missed them, all I could find was the complete sets.

Yep, it's here:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/SuperC..._TRANSM_pg4.htm under "Manual Transmission Selector Rod, Shims and Seals" - part number 999-701-359-40.

In case you ever need to look up specific part numbers in the future, check out the Porsche PET below:

http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/origi...USA_KATALOG.pdf

Usually you can put the part number into Google and get a pretty good handle on the folks who stock it.
