I think red front turn signals would get a lot of attention.....from the cops. I don't know any state that allows red lights of any type on the front of a car. Unless you are in emergency services of some sort. You might want to rethink that especially in TX. unless it's a track car, that I don't know!

a lot of things are illegal that people get away with... those stupid little neon lights on the wiper/washers... neon kits etc... but people still use them
the smoke ones are illegal too... and 1/2 the people in TX have those... WTF? from TXDOT: g. Signal shows any color other than white or amber to the front, or signal shows any color other than red or amber to the rear. |

on the subject of turn signal lenses would any 914 race cars out there be interested in a solid opaque urethane (as in the original shape of turn signal but solid flat on the inside ,, for race cars that way the car would keep its shape but there would be no chance if it were hit that plastic pieces would fly all over .. am i being clear?

Good job.
All right people... everyone gave this guy crap about his clear lenses (including me)... and everyone wanted them in color... so he' got 'em. So you all better start buying! I've got new lenses, or I would consider springing for a set. Regards, Karl |

made a call to a friend(his dad's a cop)... if you use amber bulbs that are bright enough, any of the lenses will pass inspection here... the cop will only give a ticket if he needs an excuse... but you never know when you are going to get pulled over by a d!cK cop for 2 miles over the speed limit and he tack on a bunch of stuf just b/c he's inadequate at home... but in that case you're fuct anyway...
ClaussStudios: have ya'll tested the lenses to see if they can still show amber through? |

In the future, I could use exact duplicates of the USA tail light lenses.

In a word No,, I dont think amber bulbs would look amber thru a red lens the car in the photo has Leds and they look good and still bright thru the smoke elnses and I am not making exact duplicates of the american lenses Hella might have a problem with that. that is why I changed the design somewhat so someone in germany does not get pissed at me. |

Yeah, but RED....that be cops colors.....kinda like wearing a Blue Bandana in Blood's neighborhood....likely to end up with baton kisses upside yer head..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) |

that's CA, not TX... they just shoot in TX if you piss 'em off!
I'll try to talk to a few more people who have customized their lenses and stuff around here(not just 914s) and see if they have any troubles... another option would be to use the red ones, but route the turn signals to some bulbs under the foglight grill... like the red car in this post... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread....threadid=113847 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) or I could just get clear and paint the inside of the housing red :finger2: |
