Had the 73 1.7 with original D Jet up on jack stands and did all new brakes .
Calipers, braided lines, rotors, pads, full fluid flush. Thats all I touched ... So excited as the test drive went great . running great and now stopping well. Cleaned her up and went to move her ... hard to start ( a first) rough running. Got 4 good sparking plugs ( Timing light test) . checked fuel pressure ... at 28 lbs needed air (liked having the pcv disconnected . for some odd reason i saw lots of oil coming out the pcv and when I revved it much more . shut it down. checked the oil and I am UP a quart + ! Very gas smell and "feel" ... I say yup its fuel !!! thinking injector(s) ??? I shook something (crud) loose and have a stuck injector(s) ? Your thoughts much appreciated |

You could pull all the injectors loose of the intake, leaving them connected to the fuel hoses and then power up the fuel pump and see which leaks.
One or more need to be dumping a fair amount of fuel to get that much fuel in the oil so fast. Jim |

^^^ I did just that , Thanks
The cold start had a bit weeping ... I am going to just bypass that . 2 of the injectors are flowing gas !!! Ordered 4 reman valves ( told they will be "matched" ) I have new good filters .. should I be doing more ? Guess it will be a fill of oil and run just a bit ... then dump that and fill again with the good oil (Brad penn) & a finger or 2 crossed that no damage is done |

Thanks for all the info and an update from me .
Installed the reman injectors today, and did bypass the cold start, . got a cheepo oil filter and filled with cheepo 20/50 . Starts up great , runs good and no noise or "weid stuff" I was afraid of due to the gas in oil. Ran that just a bit now dumped that and on to the 2nd cheepo filter. will run that just a bit as well . then change to a good filter and oil. SO relieved that apparently no damage done (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) |
