$209 for the pair? Sounds too good to be true. Anyone have any experience with these?

But I don't think it will fit into the tight bucket space. If you decide to do this take pictures and let us know

Wow and a claim of 4000 lumen output! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif)
Stoddard sells similar headlights for $289 a pair http://www.stoddard.com/64463110631-smd.html I've still been too cheap to do headlights (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |

Cool. I would need to see a beam pattern before buying. I also would be concerned about how far the bulb base sticks out.
Much cheaper than the proven GE Nighthawks https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BQX2BT8?pc_redir=T1 |

I have a sneaking suspicion that they might actually fit. Like an idiot, I lost whatever measurements I had of my HID light solution when I made the ones in the picture below (had to make fiberglass light covers just to get them in there), but it was a significant gain in length, maybe 3 inches. These don't look like they protrude nearly that much. I'll see if I can get an answer from the manufacturer, or maybe even a test pair (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Looks promising. Some modification would be required.

The other model they sell is even cheaper, still almost 2x as bright as H4s, no extra ballast hanging off and $159...plug and play?

Is there a law covering how bright the lights can be? I know the blue lights ricers use are blinding.
How does 4000 compare to H4? |

The "ricer lights" you see ...also on lifted "bro trucks" are a product of installing HID lights into halogen housings. (Its a personal pet peeve of mine)
Basically people not doing an HID headlight conversion using HID projectors that control the HID light signature. I did a HID conversion on my Subaru, but sourced projectors from an Acura TSX. Stick the headlight in the oven at 200 degrees, split the headlight housing and install the projectors from an HID car. I haven't personally tried the nighthawks due to the price, but the sets I got for $140 were worth it. I have them installed on my Vanagon and 2 of my 914s. They make a HUGE difference for night driving and are a "safe" plug and play upgrade as they have less current draw than even stock headlights (something like only 3amp) Side by side output with LED on the left and stock highbeam on the right. The white light on the far right is actually coming from the LED headlight on the left. One of these casts way more light than a pair of stock bulbs. They made an even lager difference on the 914s, due to the old wiring/voltage drop, the LEDs are pretty much un affected by it. The vans stock headlights were not bad whereas the 914s were near useless. |

Bolt on, nothing else needed
http://www.amazon.com/YITAMOTOR-Round-Head...ailpage_o02_s00 or http://www.amazon.com/WHDZ-Headlight-Wrang...ailpage_o00_s00 They are listed as different brands but are the exact same light, there are a few others for sale that are exactly the same as well. Whats really odd about them, looking at them head on they appear to be much dimmer, but man they REALLY light up the road, especially reflective signs. |

I've looked into it....they won't fit on the backside.
The bucket on an aircooled beetle is deeper than the 914. Something like this would fit because you can fold the heatsink out of the way. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i.ebayimg.com-26-1464897766.1.jpg) http://www.ebay.com/itm/2Pcs-20W-H4-Hi-Lo-...odm&vxp=mtr BTW those are less than $20ea housings (off of most VWbug dealers) with a $70 LED kit like this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-160W-16000LM-...Xl4&vxp=mtr Note: I didn't look at the vendor or specs on the above examples, I quickly grabbed them as an "style" example only. |

BTW the average LED headlight bulb will lose about 30% of it's brightness after about a year. If it's too bright it will likely tone down after awhile.
