Greetings to all,
With only a few hundred test miles, Scott and Terry are going for it! Talked to Scott Thatcher yesterday and today, he's rolling along in his Subaru 2.5 powered 914 (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif) . He's in Memphis right now (12.45 pm Monday), about 1,000 miles from Baltimore. No problems at all and the car is running cool from his huge underside scoop and backup fans. He says he's getting about 30 miles per gallon, but more miles will give him a better figure. He noted that he wished for a taller 5th gear to quiet things down a bit, but he's not complaining. I'll keep you all updated as he calls in. Joe C. (Scott's parts bitch) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) |

Joe: Thanks for the post. This is going to be interesting. Are they going to have a chance to post on the way?

Glad to hear everything is ok so far! |

I thought they were staying with Joe in his Motorhome? Maybe they are just going to jump from bed to bed? This should be interesting. |

CptTripps, I just PM'd you the cell phone number that you can reach him at. I suspect that he'll be @ 1,500 miles into this trip by the end of tonight.
I don't know where he'll have web access, perhaps at some of the friends he's staying with along the way? I'll keep you all posted as he calls in. Joe C. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) |

Joe: First of all thanks.
Second, we need to know weather Scotts car is early or late for seat belts. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Joe |

His belts looked like crap when I saw them last week. He purchased a used set at hershey last year, but he lost them in his move and I don't know if he found them? I'll get back to you all on that. |

Talked to Scott at 6:15pm and he has been in Texas for about 30 minutes.
He says he is driving with the crap seatbelts installed. So you need to be young and nuts to do this trip? He's at 1,300 miles right now with about 100 to go until he's at a relatives place. Off to Rio Rancho, NM tomorrow. He's SMOKIN' (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/happy11.gif) Joe C. |

1300 miles. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/w00t.gif) The last post he made before he left was only 30 hours ago. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/cool_shades.gif) He must have a tanker truck filling up his gas tank on the fly. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/burnout.gif) His (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/bootyshake.gif) is gonna be numb for days. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/blink.gif) He'll prolly want to eat and sleep standing up. (if he ever decides to stop and take a break) |

Talked to Scott and Teri at 9:30 MDT. They are between Wichita Falls and Amarillo on US 287. I'm expecting them in ABQ aroun 4:30pm.
Everything is going well with the Suby conversion. All temps are normal. Pictures will follow. |
