Might wanna avoid the 964 cars (C2/C4) because they have a LOT of oil/head leaks. There's a fix, but it's both expensive and not at all permanent. Known problem. HTH, The Cap'n

I had a 1991 C-4 Cabrio. I would recommend that car to anyone looking. Have a good wrench look it over first, but it was a great car. My car never leaked oil. Sold it with 150,000 miles. At the end the top leaked a small amout if you hit it with the hose. Never leaked when it rained.. Ran like a top. I have heard tell of the oil leak problem. Mine never did. Gods were on my side..
Happy hunting SJ |

1988 and above sounds arbitrary. I'd send your friend over to the Pelican 911 Forum and tell him to start doing research. There's been a million topics on what to buy, how to buy, which years are the best.
Here's a site that has a nice synopsis of the 911 history: http://www.idee.demon.nl/inh-story.htm Pelican 911 FAQ: http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/technical_...guthrie_faq.htm Rennlist FAQ: http://www.rennlist.org/FAQ/ Bruce Anderson's 911 Performance Handbook is also good reading if your friend likes technical details: http://www.911handbook.com/ And finally drill the following word into his head: PPI. A pre-purchase inspection by a wrench who really knows the cars is a must on a 911. |

as mentioned, check for oilleaks at the cilinders
if they ain't leaking, they either had the (expensive) modification done, or it's a lucky shot '92 and on had the mod installed from the factory... |
