I purchased some leather and vinyl cleaner and dye from Color-Plus.
http://www.colorplus.com/frameset_products.html The dye is called SurFlex and they have the exact color match for Porsche black (917). It was very easy to clean the vinyl (rollbar pad, dash, lower dash, windshield trim). The cleaner removes all residue, grease, wax, oil, Amorall, etc. Then you brush or spray on the dye (I purchased their fine 1" natural bristle brush). All I can say is that the pieces look brand new. I have a new dash top and I compared the old trim pieces to the vinyl on the new piece and it is an exact match. The pieces look brand new again. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) |

What vinyl parts did you do? I have some leather that is showing signs of wear (leather seat bolsters) and I'm looking for restoration options -- this sounds like it might have some legs -- what do you think? kim. |

I did the lower dash pad (where the side airvents are), the windshield trim pieces, the upper windishield trim piece (where the visors mount), the rear rollbar trim piece, and the side rollbar trim pieces (coat hook).
THe product also works for leather. Look at their site for all of their products. I found it from a recommendation on the Pelican 911 board. |

It soaks into and bonds with the leather/vinyl. I don't think it wears off.
Search the Pelican 911 board under Surflex and see what come sup. There are also laquer sprays and dyes. This is a dye. I think the laquer's are more for color changes and they can wear off. Regards Karl |

For the bumper tops, clean them really really, REALLY well and then use a product called Back to Black by Mothers. It works good. Fades quick the first few times, but if you stay on top of it then it will start lasting longer and longer. Now I only apply it every couple of car washes. I also heard sumthin about applying shoe polish . . . but I can't vouch for that one.
