Porsche changed material and center hole style quite awhile ago (merging 356/911/912/914/930 applications), so any OEM bushings you find are going to have oblong holes.
If you want round holes (which will feel tighter but transmit more vibration to the shift lever), you'll have to get aftermarket performance bushings: http://www.jwesteng.com/shop/all-transmiss...hings-pair.html "Replacement polyurethane coupler bushings with round holes instead the factory oval shape for no slop." https://www.5150motorsport.com/shift-couple...9-1758-424.html "Aftermarket Poly Graphite Manual Transmission Shift Coupler Set" |

Thank you for clarifying for the previous responder. I would gladly buy his version if it had a round hole. His catalog clearly shows his has an oval. In fact, I would have included it with other parts on order from 914 rubber. The suppliers suggested in the first response do have them. Thank you |

Sorry,
What I should have said is mine are not oval, the ones I have made do not have slop. I'd be happy to throw you a set to check them out. The material is used is also not delrin (which has very little flex), as it is very difficult to install the harder versions. I did go nylon like factory - Only mine are not white. I did also have issues with the OEM ones that didn't fit properly after the change to oval so I do see your concern. That's why I made the version I did. |

All 911, 912 and later 356 models had the oblong hole, the 914s always had the round hole. The oblong hole allowed for engine transmission movement of the rear engined car.The 914 mid engined had less movement (unless the engine mounts were broken!) but had to shift further back, so to prevent slop round holed bushings were put in the updated shifter 73 and later.
As Drew said, Porsche superseded the bushings to the oblong hole for all models. Installing oblong holed ones in a 914 shifter causes annoying slop. ALWAYS install round holed ones Hopefully for you Rory, you are keeping your six original and not installing the later shift mechanism as a six really shifts fine in its stock configuration (as opposed to the tail shifting four cylinder cars Who can supply the bushing on the right ? with the round hole for the pin. Pelican Parts offer these in brass. I wonder how well they work? https://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/SuperC...T_pg2.htm#item6 My goal is to optimize the stock 6 linkage first and hopefully to be satisfied with the result. At the same time I'm gathering parts to convert to a side shifter I have seen the brass parts from Pelican. Anyone here have experience with that part ? |

Pelican Parts offer these in brass. I wonder how well they work? https://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/SuperC...T_pg2.htm#item6 Excellent! Just installed a pair this weekend. Huge difference! IMHO, worth the $55. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) EDIT: The clearance is so close it's like dropping lifters into their bores. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) |

Polygraphte is a sub-optimal material for this application

FYI the the original Porsche factory 914 side shift coupler bushings were made of Polygraphite back in the day. I've have an NOS sideshift rod with coupler and the bushings are definitely softer black material with round holes, not the more common harder white Delrin / Nylon material being used today.
That said I'd agree some of the original 1960s / 1970s materials weren't always as good as today's higher tech stuff, at least we have lots of choices now. |

The OEM ones I've torn out of a few were definitely nylon, the age looked appropriate for for being OEM.
Bruce, you've torn down more that I have, what is the OEM compound? |
