Towel underneath channel locks would probably work....
And yes, there are 3 set screws underneath that ferrule. |

The ferrel with the 'momo' on it unscrews off and then here are two or three small set screws that need to be loosened.

Yep it unscrews and then there are 3 Allen screws underneath as previously mentioned
