I have a 81 3/.0 six cyl engine and I want to use it in my 74 914.
What all does the stock main engine wiring harness connect to? What are the basic things I need the harness to connect to? Alternator Starter VR Coil/Ignition |

Since no one else has replied, I'll give it a try.
Use a internally regulated alternator and the wires go right into the stock relay board. The starter and coil/ignition are the same. You'll *want* to wire it all nice and tidy through a Pertronix and MSD 6AL box, though... Thanks Trekkor
Well I am still debating on going the 3.2 DME(I have a setup minus the DME) route or PMOs The biggest problem I have with the harness I have is I dont have one so I was thinking on ways to fab one up or pick up a used one. I was just wondering what components I would need incorporated in the harness. |

You can lose the relay board.....you will need a wiring diagram for the DME set up if you use the FI, I have it one one of my hard drives someplace.
.....if you don't have the stock harness for the six....it's best to find one or buy a "Painless Harness"...I'm using that on Frankenstealth my 2.2/6 powered 356... |

If I get another motor someday... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/unsure.gif)
I would love to have a set of PMO's. After I got my carbs cleaned up and adjusted, I have been having nothing but a blast with this car. KT |

I see them often on ebay (engine wiring harnesses). There is a 3.0 engine harness on ebay right now that ends in 3 hours...it's at 25 bucks. Here is the url:
