I have a 74 914 with the factory wiring for the Center console. I have 2 gauges, oil temp and Volt. Both gauges work fine but no lights.
I have power all the time where the clock would be (if I had one) Black wire. No power to the black/blue wires at all. My headlights work and the dash lights dim when I turn the headlight reostat- as they should. I notice the that one of the black/blue wires has 2 wires to one connection? Do I have to dummy up a connection because I have no clock??? I checked the interior fuse - ok, backpad light works, headlights ok. Thanks |

IIRC, you'll need to follow the harness up to where the black/blue connects behind the speedo/tach. I'm pretty sure each bulb is seperate, so you don't have to dummy one. They DO need to be grounded to the gauge housings to work! It sounds like the wire broke before the console wires split off the harness. Worst comes to worst, wire your own.
