ive read those damn instructions a hundred times. I set the eye according to recommended procedures. My car ran good, but never great, and it had a slight hesitation in the 4k area and never did idle correct. As you might have seen it also didnt like the retard vac line when installed. Today i conducted an experiment and pulled the eye as far to the advanced side of the shutter wheel as it would go-TDC w/ key on and light lights up standard alignment procedure- but instead of pulling it to the center or furthest position from the edge, i put it towards the leading edge CCW. She lost all hesitation, knocking, pings and idle problems immediatly. RUns strong now! Try this if your having problems, im thinking some people have got lucky installing them and the ones who didnt blamed the unit for the problems they had w/ them and went back w/ the points.
