are we still a go on this factory....? Heard nothing about them, the Mexico one closed though. It was a sad day, but someday I will own a 2001 Type1 beetle.

I heard there was a place in italy making 1.7 and 1.8 914 heads and 2.0 bus heads........

what's the scoop people?

don't know much about the brazilian plant nor do i care about them (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)

the heads are from AMC* or something like that...aircooled.net sells them, 1st thing most shops that purchase them do is throw away the valves, seats and guides and rebuild/remachine them properly.

*Spain I believe

type one with an actual computer-driven injections system....genius. I want my 914 to have a check engine light. ya know, i bet this might even compensate for the additional displacement.....just .1L we're talking.

I just got back from Mexico. It was cool to see all those late model type 1's running around. They also have these cool Golf style pickups, similar to the old rabbit style pickups.

No OBD 2 in '94. I have a 92 that comes in on occasion. Monomotronic FI, basic bug equipment (cloth, no frills, etc.). We get parts from the dealer in TJ, courtesy of a friend who picks them up for us there.

A customer of mine snagged up one of the last batches to come out in 2003, I think it was 2003? Anyway, it resides up here now. I keep it in tune for him. Pretty wierd to see it let alone drive it. It is a brand new car, new car smell, everything works, tight, quiet, wierd. He titled it as a 67' I believe. it was a legal process that ran him about $9500 including the price of the car. $9500 for a brand new car seems like a great deal to me. Here is the only picture I have of it.
