Post the number on the arm of the vacuum unit. Lots of confusion about what is correct.

Researching some old posts here is what I found
according to the old Bosch list the Bosch #s should be: 1973: 039 905 205 (vac canister 022 905 271 C): 0 231 174 010 (009 without VW sign/logo), up to 1973/6 |

I now understand that there is a number on the arm of the unit that identifies what part this is. The number on the arm for the part I'm looking for is 839.

I now understand that there is a number on the arm of the unit that identifies what part this is. The number on the arm for the part I'm looking for is 839. I found this chart, I have no idea of the accuracy. I have a few 2.0 distributors 205, and 205A and the arms have a 979 number. I was not able to find that number on the chart. I also have two 917 (0 231 174 007) distributor, 831 (0 229 905 205F) distributor. 815 I was not able to locate this number on the chart. Attached thumbnail(s) |

That is very helpful and interesting. My best guess is that the 831 would be the right part.
