that Euro plate and the spotless garage suggest that photo was not taken in the US.
it's a little known fact that the European swallow can travel up to 200 mph, as they are not migratory... with a fast enough bird, that car couldda been parked. hitting a 5-lb bird at even 100 mph would be unpleasant. |

i believe it was a European swallow, although a cocoanut would certainly have contributed to the damage... |

How was it carrying a coconut? Did the swallow grip it by the husk? And how can a tiny swallow carry a coconut?
It looks to me like a windshield impact test done in a lab. |

are you suggesting that a 10 oz swallow could carry a 2 lb. coconut?
it's not a question of where he grips it, it's a simple matter of weight ratios |

I saw a sage grouse (about 6lb typical weight) do almost the same damage to a GMC Suburban windshield. Impact was at about 70mph. Penetration was partial.

It's not the swallow that was carrying a coconut. It's the rube behind the knight who was chasing the swallow to figure out the bird's speed to gain permission to cross a bridge . . .

Yikes! I know I have had my Boxster up to 155 MPH. That impact must have been over 100 mph.

Listen. In order to maintain air-speed velocity, a swallow needs to beat its wings forty-three times every second, right? |
