I stopped at an Automotive Paint supply house this morning to get some pinch weld primer for butyl, to use as prep for my windshield and rear window installation.
Not legal to sell in California anymore. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) So what have others used instead of the butyl primer or what might be a good substitute? The car has been repainted several years ago but has not had the windshield or rear window install since the repaint. Would roughing up or sanding the painted surfaces be good enough? Does the glass need a primer? Thanks Jim |

Take a nice cruise over to the NV side of Tahoe and buy some and bring it home

Just clean both surfaces very well. I've always just used laquer thinner to prep. Butyl will stick to Air if you get it clean enough! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

It's actually an acid etch style primer. Made specifically to bond with the butyl. High VOC compounds are used.
