Both the ones I have only the speedometer works. No mileage or trip reset.

Easy fix if you want to fix it, fun in an odd sort of way. Speedogears has what you need, and then it is all mechanical. Some times the gear just slips on the shaft, some times it is broken and brittle. The plastic that VDO used did not like the lubricant they used. They will all die eventually, even if they have sat in a time capsule.

Not sure about if you launched one into space, the cryo temperatures do so odd things to materials.
