what is the difference in mine vs a loaner..
JFU4 vs JFUD4 bosch 0 231 176 048 vs 0 231 181 009 VW 021 90-5 205 A-B vs 022 905 205 AA Mine is from a 75 1.8. Came with the car, no idea if it is right or not. Not sure about the vs one. both have vacuum advance and electronic modules... mine is hot spark vs Petronics. I got a loaner to try cause my idle has been erratic and my retard vacuum is broken... hose pulled and plugged did not good. Want to install the loaner, but it IS DIFFERENT. question is how different? or maybe a better question is, will it work in my L-Jet 1911? |

will for the most part be interchangeable. The AA was the earlier version 1.8 with vacuum advance retard, the ab was the later one with vacuum retard only
As to the specifics, the aa probably had a different advance curve than the ab, and actually wore a different rev limiting rotor than the ab. Subtile changes for emissions what is the difference in mine vs a loaner.. JFU4 vs JFUD4 bosch 0 231 176 048 vs 0 231 181 009 VW 021 90-5 205 A-B vs 022 905 205 AA Mine is from a 75 1.8. Doc's right. If we could go down to the corner store and buy the correct distributor we would. But we can't, so we use what we have. It usually works. My '74 1.8 came with a 1.7 D-Jet dist along with a 75-76 2.0 D-Jet Fuel injection system. Runs fine.

Gonna lube it up with my sili kroil and let it sit overnight. Install, timing, and test drive on Sunday.
