I found this the other day looking for something else. Looks like Porsche decided that they weren't selling enough complete axles.

Is that the CV which was incorrectly listed that @bbrock and I both bought then returned?

Cary,
I wonder if these are actual Lobro CV joints or some Made in China repop??

Thanks,
Dominic

Pretty sure they are the same ones Kent and I bought. They are Lobro but are 914-6 joints. It appears what happened is that years ago Porsche superseded the part # for the 914-4 axle assembly with the 914-6 because it is a direct bolt-in replacement. Then fairly recently (maybe a year ago?) somebody got the idea to offer the joints alone as 914-4 parts about the same time they jacked up the price on the axles. The joints won't fit on a 914-4 axle though as Kent said. It's crazy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)

You could order some custom full floating axles and use them.

You could but that is like having the tail wag the dog. Axles will cost about $200 a pair.
I think Eric PMB and Chris Foley are offering modified VW CV's for about $100 each.

When i was looking for axles for my 73 i learned that Gaudin Porsche in Las Vegas had some 914-6 axles in stock so i called them and learned that they had 914-4 axles too for about $700 each or cv joints without boots for $130.
Maybe this will help
