I've got a goal of moving to either Fla. panhandle or Cape Hatteras in a few years and a LARGE block garage with at leats two lifts is in the planning. Strong building with the cars in the air would help me sleep at night! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Looks to me that is necessary in those areas. Hope the car is all well, and the house and people too.

Talked to the nieghbors who gambled and stayed. not much wind but it's pouring buckets.
As close as I live to the water I just don't like to take chances with Cat 4 storms. This one was very compact but also carried a big punch. So we will go home and clean up and race next weekend (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/mueba.gif) Hey I gots my priorites. |

Hey All,
I am sitting here in Michigan (Suns's shining & Beautiful) worring about our condo in Santa Rosa Beach (Blue Mountain) Florida a few miles East of the storm's center. Even though were the highest point on the gulf rim (about 63') those 35' waves do lots of damage. The storm last year (Irvin) took away half our dunes and this one will do more damage. Worry, worry & more worry. Mother nature is awsome. Our windows are designed for 125 mph winds with a 2x4 hitting the windows before they break. I wonder what damages will be. Those poor people that didn't leave & live in low areas could probablly lose their lives. Mother Nature can strike a cruel blow. Canada & Michigan winters are looking better every day. Screw Florida & their Hurricans. Tom BTW Here's what these beautiful dunes looked like before Irvin. Just think it took millions of years to look like this. Attached image(s) |

Well all is well we are back home. The Red neck racer and stripper are just fine. Weather is beautifull Think I am going to go or a topless drive. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/mueba.gif)
Nothing much to clean up pulled most of the boards off the windows and am thanking my lucky stars. Yea coulda been lots worse. Dang 125 mph windows?? That's cool. Hope it all is till there, however looking at the news the damage path was very narrow. |

Joe,
Just got the news, our Bella Vita Condo came through with no property damage except the stairway & landing to the beach. Our unit was dry with no water intrusion through the door wall seals (good ol Pella). The dunes were hit hard with more erosion cut back by about 3 feet. The state of Florida is planning restoration of the dunes throughout our area. They haven't started from Irvin & now Dennis. The state money's approved & now govt. moves slow. Looks like it will take a year or more to complete. Florida tax money will fix this beautiful beach. I don't mind spending tax money for this repair. Now I have to worry till Hurrican season is over in Sept. or is it Nov.??? Tom |

Isn't that called "Looting"? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Glad everyone is ok. Had a tornado hit the small town where I have my other house. Called the neibour and am heading out there with my chainsaw shortly. |
