Not sure who built it, but it says the color is Chalk/Crayon (M9A) in the description.

I just looked over the BAT pictures and think while this car looks nice at first glance, it seems like someone spent a lot of time to make it look pretty but made some decisions on the job that don't make sense. The engine compartment looks a bit rough, they left off both front and rear valances, and the front has no plugs in the bulkhead holes, so air and water will just be blown into the front trunk with gusto. The muffler is missing most of the bolts that attach it to the heat exchangers and it isn't even attached to the support bracket. These are simple things that are missing which may indicate that someone just tried to wrap things up quickly to sell. Who knows what other short cuts were taken. Thankfully the buyer didn't pay some crazy high BAT price for the car.

Probably got in too deep and had to bail, could be a ton of reasons. Agree with the hasty assembly. Seems to lean as well, setup and ride height not finished. That was a while ago, hopefully all is completed now.

I was thinking Audi Nardo Grey, but that's a little dark. I swear VW/Audi has a grey that looks just like that.

Not a huge backstory... I just really enjoy briging my visions to life. This was the very first car I did major metal fabrication on (cutting and welding the fenders) as well as a full body base/clear paint job with a compressor and spray gun. Prior to this, the most I had ever done was a little welding of some exhaust components and grafting in a small panel on another car. Any paint work had been a rattle can, blend and sanded. This was a pretty big project and undertaking. One I was quite proud of. Not perfect, but far better than many, many other novices out there.

The engine compartment was never touched, nor was the exhaust. The engine and its components are exactly as the car was when I bought it from previous owner in Kentucky. The only thing I did was change the oil and gear oil. No short cuts taken in my work. The lack of valances was my own personal liking and part of the restomod look I wanted.It was sold with the intention of whoever bought it would complete and finish it to their liking. It was well known the engine wasnt rebuilt or reworked in any way.

Again, nothing hasty about what I did with this vehicle. I have many, many photos documenting the build. All the work from the teardown of the suspension components, the steering rack refurbish, the rear hubs, axles, trailing arms, everything I touched. Im not a professional, just a hobbyist and enjoy what I do. I cant afford to keep everything I do. Sometimes you have to part with things to carry on other visions, projects and wants.

I took a look at your build thread and you did a lot of work on your garage build, you should be proud. Car looked great! Comments really supported your efforts at the time of your build as well, and even dr914 weighed in saying "very Tasteful". Looks like you handled the BAT auction well too, not an easy thing to do.
Hopefully you have another coming along as you acquired some skills.

Thank you gentlemen, much appreciated. The projects following those two 914s were not 914's... I did a 65 Mustang coupe with a built 289 transplant. Dropped the c4 Auto for a T-5 and added a hydraulic clutch and 5lug conversion with a 8.8 rear from a Thunderbird turbo coupe and of course... Flares.

Then bought and flipped a few Boxsters, retaining one for myself. I recently built a house and a new garage to allow me to grow my hobbies. I just recently acquired a 1970 signal orange 914 which will be the next project. I will start a new thread with pics and progress once the car is in my possession
