What is the width of the front end, hub to hub.
By hub I mean the mounting surface of the wheel.

Is there a difference between years or 924/944 models?

We own 2 944s. I don’t know the measurements you are looking for. 86 and up the 944 and 924s use the same suspension but 944s use wider wheels. The pre 86 has early offset suspension. Early 924(Audi powered) are different as well. 924S is a 944 in sheep clothing
