Family,

Engine has been out for about 6 months.

Body getting worked on.

Picking up body 2morrow. Getting engine in next week.

Soooo -- since the tank is dry, and the fuel lines have been played with....what are some steps that I can take to make sure everything starts up w/out the usual 914 nightmare?

Thanx.,

First, make sure that you spin the motor with no fuel and the spark plugs out so it can build oil pressure.

Second, assuming you have fuel injection, put some gas in the tank and hotwire the pump to CHECK FOR LEAKS.

Then hook everything up and try to start it.

Still learning about the way the 914 is put together, but when I replaced the chain tensioner and oil tube towers on the Mercedes, I pulled the fuel pump relay and cranked the engine over until I saw the oil pressure go up to a normal level.
