1975 Porsche 914 1.8L in stunning original condition with only 53,500 miles. VIN: 4752900475. More pictures and details available upon request.

All four original 914 steel sport wheels are also included (see pics). Runs perfectly. I've mostly driven to and from work -- plus a f 300 mile few 300 mile trips. Nearly all highway miles. Only gets driven in good weather. Asking $28,000 -- cashier's check preferred. Located in southeastern Washington. I'm reluctantly selling because I have two kids now and I just don't have many excuses to drive it anymore. It was passed down to me by my dad who died later that year (2009). It's a legendary car in my family, but it could be put to better use as college funds for my kids and niece and nephew. Known Problems: * Very slow oil leak coming from the passenger side valve cover. * The windshield wiper turns on once from time to time when I turn on the blinker. * Fog lights don't work. Not sure if it's just the bulbs. I've never looked in to it. * Cracks in dash and seat leather (see pics). * Rips in the seats (see pics). * Broken passenger seat adjustment handle. * Some rust, obviously (see pics). Not original: * 4 tip exhaust (installed circa 2012) * Rocker panel paint * Door speakers and 8-track player/radio * Aftermarket interior plastic light cover * CB radio/antenna History: I'm the third owner. My dad bought it from an acquaintance with ~10k miles on it in the late 70s. He put ~35k miles on it. He parked it in 1985 because it developed a bad leak from the oil filter pedestal and he couldn't afford the repair (his first kid was born that year). He passed it on to me when I graduated high school and I paid for the gasket repair and to get it running again. Richard Buechler at Apline Motors in Hayden, ID did the work and has performed most major maintenance. Service invoices are available upon request. In 2015, Northwest Radiators in Spokane, WA applied a liner to the fuel tank. The fuel filter was needing regular changes from rust in the tank from sitting for so long. Unbeknownst to me, they also unnecessarily applied this liner to the exterior of the tank. You can see this in some frunk pics. In 2021, I had a painter friend sandblast and repaint the rocker panels, since they were considerably faded. The targa top and exterior plastic side panels also got a few coats of black plastic restorer. Not sure if you realized it, but your CV joint bolt is backed out in the photo.
Nice car. Too bad it's not a sway bar optioned car. You may want to wait on selling. Seems like the 914 market has softened a bit. Not sure why. The 911 market doesn't appear to be softening. Pictures of the hell hole and longs are always requested, so you may wanna get those. |

firstly - what a fabulous example. always wonderful to see an original car in such condition. secondly - not a buyer, too far away (australia) and i have a 74 1.8 in pretty similar original condition and state. but i was alerted to this ad by @JeffBowlsby for purely reasons of historical research on the L - Jets. Jeff has been following up on my findings in relation to changes made to the evap emission control system in late 73 on the 74 MY models. He pointed out to me to take a look at the images of your car as the charcoal cannister plumbing was so intact. we have plenty of info on the 74s but scant info on the 75s. i wonder if i could trouble you to post some information if you have time? 1. do you still have the emissions warranty with the glovebox owners manual. if so. does it have a schematic of the vapor emissions system in it. if it does would you be able to post an image of it. (it is possible that this information might have been incorporated into the owners manual by the time of the 1975 models, i don't know as i have never seen an original 1975 1.8 owners manual). 2. i can see the engine is in totally stock totally original intact condition for an L jet. we have gathered a lot of information on the 74 models and have confirmed what the white painted letters and numbers on the engine tin are codified to mean. and we have collected just a few examples of the 75s to be fairly close to confirming what the code signifies on those. i can't see the numbers completely on your engine. they are visible on the right hand side of the engine in one photo but partially obscured by hoses. if i say what i think it is and what it means would you be able to confirm it? i believe the main number is 920. this signifies a 49 states car (non california) equipped with the gauge and console option from the factory as an original order/build. additionally i can see a further number below that. that number will say EA followed by 3 digits. i would be interested to know the digits. we have the digits for the 74 models but not the 75s. what that means is this is an early in the model year production run of engines for the 75 cars. only the early cars/engines got the EA number and not all of them - just some of them. it stands for development order or project order. i see the VIN for your car is early - below 500 in the run. so that makes sense its got an EA number. i can see the tune up sticker (white on the left hand side tin of engine) is intact. an image would be very valuable for historical data. i see also the emissions sticker on the fan casting is also completely intact. again an image would be fantastic if you can manage it. we can add all this to the material we have accumulated on the 74 L - Jets. it would be of great use potentially to restorers who want accurate data on the L-jets - and just generally flesh out the full picture on them. you could say the L jets have been subject to a bit of neglect on that front for a long time so...... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) very nice example. i wish you well selling it. it must be a little bit of a wrench letting it go given it belonged to your dad. I got some requests to add more photos that would give lookers a better idea of the rust situation with this car. Here's a link to my Google Drive where you should be able to see all photos I have: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1OGJ...NOt?usp=sharing As expected, the hell hole is by far the worst rust spot on the car. I tried taking photos underneath the hell hole -- from the underside. I didn't find any rust, so I think it's contained to the engine bay, and definitely not poking through. I added photos of other spots on the car that @fiacra suggested are usual suspects of accumulated rust. @wonkipop , I added all the pictures I think you were asking for. They can be found in the Engine Bay folder and the Manuals folder. Let me know if I missed anything, and keep up the good work! Lastly, @fasthonda , I tightened the CV joint bolt to 31 ft/lbs and checked all the rest. They were all tight -- not sure why that one had backed out. I did a general check of everything else on the underside and didn't find anything obvious. |
