Hi all,

I've recently purchased a set of black steelies here:

https://www2.cip1.com/acc-c10-6623-mb/

I'm trying to understand if 205/60 R15 tires will fit without rubbing the fenders.

My car is stock, and I currently have stock Fuchs wheels, also with 205/60 R15 tires on.

I know that the stock Fuchs are:

15 inches in diameter
Have a width of 5.5 inches
With a bolt pattern of 4x130 mm
An offset (ET) of +40 mm
An approximate backspacing of 109.85 mm or roughly 4.32 inches

And I know that the steelies are:

15 inches in diameter
With a width of 5.5 inches
With a bolt pattern of 4x130
An offset (ET) of +25 mm
An approximate backspacing of 108 mm or roughly 4.25 inches

I unsuccessfully reached out to @80'soldschool! who in 2019 started a thread with the very same steel wheels but 6 inches wide rather than 5.5" and was running 195/55/15, but I wasn't able to get an answer from him...

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=339828

Anyway, I'm okay with mounting 195/55/15, but I'd rather go with 205/60 R15 if that works...

So, to make a long story short, if any of you have the very same wheels with 205s on, would you be so kind as to let me know? This way, I'll be 100% sure they'll fit. Otherwise, I'm also wondering what your take on the correct size might be.

As always, thanks so much for your help!

Every car has different rear fender clearance. Hand assembled

So one persons answer does not guarantee it will fit your car

Might fit 205
But no one on this board can answer that question exactly
Depends on your car

Only way to know is to try

What are your clearances now? If you decrease the offset by 15 mm (more than 1/2 inch) it will shift the wheels inward by that amount.

I have run 2 sets of Michelins in 205x65x15, no problem in back but mounted 12mm spacers in front to eliminate rub inside well at full lock. Car is completely stock with original 5.5"W steelies.

185/70 15. Not much narrower than 195. Your speedometer should be correct or really close. The fitment on 5.5” steel rims is very good.

yes they will fit but you my experience the "jello" effect of the sidewall flexing over the rim of the tire because of the tire being wider than the rim

My 4 lug rims are chrome aftermarkets I bought on sale in 83. They were made for 914's but were not selling any longer hence the sale. They are 5.5's with a 4 9/32's BS that I put 205's on. Not much room in the rear but never scuffed the face of the tire. And not for the lack of trying. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
