1200 miles in 24 hours without sleep kicks yer ass......

Went to Phoenix and picked up the Speedster replica. Traffic on the I 10 SUCKED!!!!! 10PM in Blythe...still over a 100F.....speed was limited to 55mph due to traffic, speed limit laws and the fact that @ 57...the ass end started doing the blue fin tuna boogie.....heavy truck, short trailer and a Ford F-150 with a racing six banger with less HP than my 914....

At least 10 accidents in the 500 miles from SB to Chandler (a suburb of Phoenix)....got there around 1:30 AM.....unloaded the traded truck.....loaded the Speedster, did the paperwork thang and was on the road to San Diego to meet V8 Sean......

Tried to catch a few ZZZZs on the side of the road at like 5am....did you know it can be 90 plus in the desert at 5am and that flies BITE.....so fired it back up and fortified with Red Bull(s) and intestinal flatulence made it to Sean's by 11:30am.....24 hours on the road....

He pulled the motor while I had hallucinations and checked out his cool house...interior has 1/4 sawn first growth redwood from early 1900s.....decided it was too freaking hot to slam it in the Speedster, so in the truck it went.

Next stop....Moms....Orange County....did some honey doos...grabbed some rack time for 2 hours and just hit the door at home 12:30 am....2.5 days later.....

Manana (actually today) is the wif's B-day....I get to ride in a bus to the Magic Castle for the whole day...I'll bring earplugs and maybe catch some ZZZs, w/o the flies....

Pics tomorrow when it's light out.

Glad to hear the trip was fairly uneventful, i.e., no tickets, accidents, caught with cross dresser in car in dark alley, etc. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

Hurry up with the picks though...

I once went from my doorhere in Georgia to the front gate at MCAS Tustin California in 29 hours.... Thats 2350 miles straight through with a couple of power naps..

I was running 90 MPH for most of the trip.. In a Ford F150..... I got so tired that I would put the truck on cruise control and throw my legs across the bench seat!!!!

I had orders to be on base and only had 3 days to make the trip.... It kicked my ass for a week afterward..

last month I drove the whole famn damily from old faithful inn at jellystone to My house in Orange, Mexifornia, straight through. 1100 miles in 16 1/2 hours. I'm afraid to do the math (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)
Luckily there were severe thunderstorms near the end to keep me awake.
I was tired for 3 days afterwards. No way would I go through that fer a car. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

I used to be the goto guy for overdrives (anything over 500 miles) when I was teching, and I convinced the road manager that we didn't need a truck driver.. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)

I'd go 3-4 days with 60 second naps ((IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/unsure.gif) in between mile markers) and I have slept through whole shows, under a drum riser, with a rock concert going on above me.

Gint, the point was it's easy for you but not for me. Prolly cause I'm old and yer crazy (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)
That was averaging 66 MPH over 16.5 hours.

That drive kicked my butt. Next time I stop in mesquitte for some gambling.

best I ever did before that was Artesia NM to Orange (900 miiles) in 14 hours (64 mph ave.).
