Short version of the story ---

About 12-years ago I purchased the steel top from TC and had it delivered to a friend's garage to build a motor for it, install the motor and some other minor work.

Last week I got a call from his soon to be ex asking me to remove it from the house driveway so she can sell the house.

Currently I have too many projects (66 C10 suspension upgrade, 82 911SC refresh, GBS Zero build, 73 2500M resto...), and no room, to take this on. So, I am looking for recommendations of shops to evaluate the current status and then if viable complete the work.

I want a driver, not a concours queen.

Any suggestions on shops in the Northeast or on the east coast that would be able to do this?

Thank you - Jim

Thank you for the suggestion - that was my first thought. As Chris replied we spoke yesterday and it sounds like he is doing fewer restorations.

The steel top? Can you post a pic or describe what a steel top is?
Then, how much work needs to be done?

I know the car through the build thread. That’s something we could do at my shop but it wouldn’t happen overnight. I have 7 engine builds in the queue so realistically, it would be this fall before work begun. If you want, we can talk about it. I’m at The9storeLLC@gmail.com

I understand what you need but I don't understand leaving a car somewhere for 12 years for a motor build.

Mike - it was to be more than a motor build - sure I could have pushed more, but was anticipating a 2-3 year project for various reasons and stuff happens along the way. As long as it was safe and dry...

Mark - I will reach out - Thank you.

I agree with Ben; if the car goes to Mark, I am sure you will not be disappointed. I have to admit, I like the idea of a steel top. The older I get the less I take the top off my car because of the sun.

My business partner actually built a backdate 911 for TC about 12 years ago.
