Thnaks to all who reached out about the fires. House made it, yard is a bit crispy. Others on the block weren't so lucky. Been volunteering at the YMCA donation center over the past couple weeks so not much 914 progress other than cleaning out ash. Rain and mudslides are next they say. ACT and SAT prep is happening. Good thing I like to be busy.
Time to put on my favorite part of this car!! I made sure to powder coat the buckets so that they were certain to last. Check out 914 Rubber for those epic relays, bulbs, and the white surrounds. I know the white is typically for the earlier 914s, but they just looked so awesome!! These definitely seemed complicated at first, but it all came together and I didn’t accidentally break anything! - it’s all about the little wins lately. Thanks to Matt, Ian and Mark for leaving breadcrumbs on this one! Keep on tinkering! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3G7878062Y |

Glad y'all are OK. Awesome video.
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) PS: While working on the headlights i always remove the relay until i'm ready to test. That way you won't accidentally get your fingers chopped off because the motor decided now was a good time to move under power. |

I had a FREAKING customer operate his pop ups while I had my hands in the mechanism! Took a CHUNK out of the little finger of my left hand! Like a cheese slicer! Took 6 months for the nerves to heal... I was PISSED. Wanted to KILL! Andy's suggestion is AWESOME!!!!! And I no longer DO ANYTHING in the engine compartment if the customer is sitting in the driver's seat. Ninja proverb: (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ninja.gif) How well something is learned is directly proportional to the amount of BLOOD, MONEY, or FACE that is lost during the training... |

It is OK if you use the instructions as a knee pad, but keep safe on the road and off. |

Apparently the rubber holders for the eyebrows are there to prevent fingers from getting crushed accidentally; the eyebrow will pop out rather than smashing a finger.
How did you deal with the outboard screws on the headlight cover? I found those to be really annoying due to exceedingly cramped access. I finally had success with my ratcheting offset screwdriver, which is a little handle with a ratchet built in that takes small screwdriver bits. Even then, it was kind of a pain. --DD |

Even with the battery disconnected> if those round twirling nubs on the headlight motors are bothered with...same guillotine can come down on fingers (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Got me thinking; on the Factory gt racers perhaps these Surrounds were left off to allow faster headlight replacement in pit stops, less to fudge with ¿¿ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/number40_914.jpg) |
