My Comp TA's are well past the "best by" date. I want to go larger in diameter to bring down the RPM's. If 205/50 fit (no rubbing) will 205/65 fit? The tire is just getting taller not wider, correct?

I have run 3 different brands of 205x65x15 tires on original steel wheels over the years without significant problems, speedo very close to stock diameter readings. Added 12mm spacer to the front to eliminate inside well rub at full lock, back fits just fine without any fender pulling. |

If 205/50 fit (no rubbing) will 205/65 fit? The tire is just getting taller not wider, correct? Yes. Ish. The numbers for tire sizes are all "nominal", but the actual measurements can vary from brand to brand and sometimes vary within a tire model! In theory the 205/65 should be no wider than 205/50. In practice, they may be wider or narrower. Hopefully if they are, it isn't enough to matter. --DD |
