After last post where I asked if I should pull the tank given all the new hoses I put in in the back, I am pretty surprised at how clean it is!!
But, I spot a few issues. Obviously fuel clamp is doing nothing. That line appears older/unreplaced. And, the line was crimped under the tank on that ridge. I could sort of tell that from above, but it’s worse.
See anything else?

It looks great to me. Clean, dry, nice paint, nice pads, and a sway bar too. It would be a good idea to replace those soft lines and the fuel sock while the tank is empty-ish. If you want to go crazy, you could put stainless lines in the tunnel, if it hasn’t been done yet.

I would replace those cloth/fiber or carpet pads under the gas tank with rubber ones that won't get waterlogged and cause the gas tank to rust out. In my experience, 914 gas tanks will develop pin hole leaks from where those cloth/fiber pads rest on the body or are glued to the gas tank itself. I have seen that happen on 3 gas tanks. The pin holes in the tank typically results in a strong gas fume smell in the car's passenger cabin whenever the gas tank is filled up, and lingers until the tank is half full or less. People spend hours trying to find the source of the gas smell and spend a lot of time replacing fuel hoses and the vapor canister system's parts, because they never see any actual liquid gas on the ground under the car.

PO did put SS in the tunnel. Loose clamp was at the bottom but not secured.

Plasticiness of the brake lines doesn’t give confidence. But brakes are excellent. Better than any other vintage auto I have owned. Not touching it as someone who has bleed too many a VW setup.

What is the large hole in the center for? Nothing seems to use it. Surely doesn’t provide access.

If you remove the steering rack cover from underneath the car, that hole does provide limited access. You probably could have gotten enough access to tigten that clamp and possibly diagnose a kinked fuel line.

The large center hole is indeed for access. if you plump the tank and fuel filters with long lines, you can pull the filter out through the hole, and replace it without removing the tank.
