So I am finally getting close to the finish line of the work and getting ready to get the car back on the road after the winter here in Quebec, Canada.

Last thing I did was replacing the pedal set with a rebuilt set from Mr. Stone. Everything is fine with the clutch and brake, but my accelerator cable does not stay attached. The ball socket goes very easily on the new ball on the rebuilt pedal set so my guess on the culprit would be that the ball socket on the end of the accelerator cable would need to be replaced.

Should I look elsewhere?

Below is what I think should be replaced.

Thanks

Reach out to Bruce @bdstone914 and he will let you know what to use.
I am not sure if it was for the accelerator cable, but a 911 piece there with a springclip is safer to use than the stock 914 part.
Something simple is going on in your setup and shouild easily be fixed.
I believe he is at Carlisle so he may not answer immediately...

Good luck! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

My guess is you've lost the little round retention spring inside the ball socket (#6 on the diagram). If you can't find it, you'll need to order a replacement. And, as @Montreal914 mentioned, new ones have a much better retention spring that goes in after putting the socket in place and clips around the socket body.

I replaced mine as too loose ,was rather difficult to get back on but not going anywhere .

For now I have ordered a new ball socket that should arrive in the next few days.

Since I will replace it, I took out the one currently in the car. The small clip is still in the ball socket but still it does not seem tight enough to properly connect to the ball on the pedal cluster. Or maybe it is just me that do not install it properly.

Anyway I will see once I get the new one.

Use a pick and try to rote the clip in the groove. They can get stuck

The clip turns freely inside the groove of the ball socket. Am I not getting it on the right way on the ball of the cluster???

There’s also another version of the socket available with a little clip/ pin through it that keeps it from popping off, I was having the same issue and got one of those from AA or pelican. Hasn’t came off since
