Last night I received a text message from the PCA Maverick Region president. It seems they are holding a concour a week from Sunday, and Bill Kruder asked me if I would enter Elwood, the factory six. He is a really nice person, and a 914 owner, so we said OK. We suspect that they didn't have any 914s entered. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Honestly, we are both of the opinion we would rather drive the car than spend time cleaning a car up for a concour. So we get to spend time next week cleaning up and washing the car. I even had to order new glass to replace the broken one in the right hand mirror.

Anyone have any tips and tricks for concour prep?

No tips from me, but will say regardless whether they are low on 914 entries, still on honor!

I'm with you, would rather drive and come and go on my own schedule.

I agree, give it a wash, maybe a wax and then just enjoy the day. Very cool to be invited to show your Six. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

@ClayPerrine I don't think I ever noticed before that your signature is scrollable. Do you still have the Pulsar? I'm not looking to add another car; I just think those are cool. Photo?

@flipb
Everyone's signature is scrollable. You just haven't added enough lines to yours yet.

Yep... Still have it. Stock motor is long gone. It has a JDM SR20-DET in it now.

Slippery slope. Whatever you do this time, you'll be expected to top it next time. It's a trap.

I have said almost the same thing. Then, I tried one and won for ten straight years. Just clean it up and enter wash and shine.

Do what Joe Sharpe did and display a box of Velveeta and a box of the cheapest wine you can find in the front trunk. Add paper cups a, paper plates plastic cutlery with the look topped off with a box of Triscuit crackers.
Video the looks of the concour judges.
Post on the internet and see it it goes viral.
Maybe a placard with Ferry Porsche's quote when interviewed at a concour event and asked how it made him feel to see his name on the back of 600 shining Porsches " It makes me sick. These cars were meant to be driven, not shined"
See how many CC weenies you can infuriate.
.And maybe pack some heat.

Congratulations on your invite to the CC event. I say, give Elwood a good wash and wax, and go have fun. If you win something, great. If you don't, it was a fun experience and then it time to take Elwood for a long drive. Have fun my friend

Slippery slope. Whatever you do this time, you'll be expected to top it next time. It's a trap.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) Or the less confrontational approach

But seriously, I can appreciate that they honored you with the invitation.

Maybe you could convince them to come on over and concours prep it for you. After all a good teacher 1st shows how to by example before expecting the student to do it for himself (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
