Finishing up my interior and wondered how important the sound deadener is? Its pretty heavy. Do people use it, lose it or replace with a more modern lighter sound barrier.

They do all of the above. You can always try it without it and go from there. The seats and back pad remove in 10 minutes.

The interior is out. I'm about to recover the seats. Was thinking dynomat for the sound barrier.

Anybody know the weight of the factory rubber barrier? This is an original six so if it is stupid to NOT replace the barrier, let me know.

Since its original 6, to me it’s more logical to stay with it. Having said that, depends on your overall build philosophy. …..especially since it remains unseen. Just an opinion and many would say your car your choice. Hard to believe it will diminish value.

I used Dynomat on my interior firewall. If I had a stock 6 interior pad in good condition, I would probably have added it too.
Took my wife a ride the other day and she remarked how much quieter my car was with the 3.6. The next time the interior comes out I am going to add some additional sound deadening to the interior firewall. Why not? I am not racing the car and really do not car if it is 15 pounds heavier.
