Quick question - if I'm going to either trickle charge or charge the battery in-situ, should I disconnect the battery leads first. Don't want to damage anything during the charge process.

Yes, disconnect the battery cable leads to isolate the battery.

I never removed anything with my trickle charger and never had a problem, but I did this with my stock 3.2 and now my 3.6. What problems have you run into?
My v8 914 is also setup this way with no problems so far… Over 20 years connected this way… |

On one of my cars i rewired the cigarette lighter directly to the battery. I plug in the trickle charger there when the car is not in use. On my other 914 it has a plug on the battery. I plug it in when I know I will not be driving the car for awhile. |
